Today is the 1st day of March and the first day of Ireland's second Lymphoedema Awareness Month.
On Tuesday 3 March, many hospitals around the country will have information stands with leaflets and posters where people can find out more about lymphoedema and how to manage the risk of developing the condition. This is an excellent opportunity to raise the profile of the condition within hospitals. If you are passing through a hospital on Tuesday, drop by the stand and pick-up a leaflet and find out more about the condition.
Throughout March, we are asking Lymphoedema Ireland members to take the opportunity to write to your local T.Ds. and highlight the Awareness Month and in particular, the lack of services available to people with lymphoedema. I have drafted a sample letter that people can download and send on, or use as the basis of your own letter. Be sure to contact us if you have any problems with the letter or if you would like more information on how to access your local T.D..
All the info is here - http://www.lymphireland.com/awareness-month-march-20151.html
Don't forget to contact us for some posters and leaflets. Make sure that your local GP has copies of our leaflet in their surgery. Large orders can be ordered directly from the printers if GPs would like more. Contact us for more info.
I'll be back in touch later this month to keep you updated on our activities and the impact that we are having.
Till then, tell everyone you meet March is Lymphoedema Awareness Month!!!
